Das Thema des Festivals „Beyond“ veranlasste die Regisseurin (Solvejg Plank) dieses Trailers dazu, eine Anspielung auf die Band Madness und ihren berühmten Song „One step beyond“ zu machen. Für eines der größten internationalen Studentenfilmfestivals sollte der Trailer unserer Meinung nach einen frischen, unkonventionellen und rebellischen Geist widerspiegeln, der gleichzeitig in einer Geschichte verankert ist.
Mit einem 80er-Jahre-Look (analog gefilmt von Suzanne de Carrasco) und einem definitiven Spaßfaktor sollte der Trailer das Fieber und die Energie des Films widerspiegeln. Wir entwickelten dann gemeinsam das Drehbuch.
Ich habe mich dafür entschieden, mit visuellen Brüchen zu experimentieren.
Die (eher streng wirkende) Figur des Autors liegt in seinem Bett und seinem fast kindlichen Zimmer (fröhliche, bunte Farben, quasi wie bei den Simpsons oder vage in einem Film von Wes Anderson – auch die Symmetrie). Hier ist es die Welt der Träume, die inneren Landschaften von Figuren, die vielleicht banal erscheinen. Der erste Kontrast zwischen der Figur und ihrer Umgebung, sie passen nicht zusammen und wecken das Interesse des Zuschauers.
Ein Telefonanruf weckt ihn (überraschend, dass der Klingelton nicht der des Weckers ist, den wir ganz am Anfang gesehen haben). Eine Einstellung, ein völlig leeres Feld mit einer einsamen Telefonzelle in der Mitte, bringt den Produzenten ins Spiel. Metaphorisch gesprochen: Wo nichts ist, muss die Möglichkeit, eine Verbindung und eine Gruppierung zu schaffen, durch Kommunikation verankert werden.
Die Mitglieder des Filmteams stellen sich wie in der Originalchoreografie in einer Reihe auf. Jeder hat ein Requisit, das seinen Beruf symbolisiert (Filmklappe, Soundbar, Megaphon, …). Anschließend gehen sie in einer grau-braunen, sehr urbanen Umgebung an Mauern vorbei. Die Aufnahmen sind frontal. Die vielen Herausforderungen und Hindernisse, die sich auf dem Weg eines Teams ergeben, werden hier angedeutet. Kaum verdeckter Verweis auf das Berlin der späten 80er Jahre. Sie kommen an eine Stelle, an der sie sich gabeln und durch eine Tor gehen.
Die sichtbaren Plakate an den Wänden sind gealterte Originalplakate aus den Archiven früherer Festivals.
Zurück im Schlafzimmer zeigt uns der Dezoom, dass es sich um eine Filmkulisse handelt (zweiter Kontrast und Überraschung), die Szene befindet sich an einem ziemlich heruntergekommenen und traurigen Ort. Einfach ausgedrückt: Der Film schafft es, selbst unter schwierigen Bedingungen und in einer negativen Umgebung zum Träumen anzuregen.
